I was at one of the hospitals in Klang Valley waiting for a friend having a check-up, and that was a few years ago...and I thought I saw somebody that was rather familiar to me. Only later I recalled that it was my Vice-Principal back in the primary school days. Mrs. Chandy. She was there sitting waiting for the doctor with her daughter Anne Marie, who was one time our head prefect. Hmm... I would have called out to say hello to them though they may not remember me, but I only remembered about saying hello when I left the department. Stupid of me.. However, I was with another sick guest at that time, would be difficult to run over to even say a quick Hi.. (sounds like an excuse? hehe..-no).
Anyway, what I can say is that, there are a lot of people who forget the names of their teachers, but there are also a lot who remembers. If not their names, their faces. Talking about that, my mind is still with the pictures of my teachers during my time at school. I can't imagine how they will look like now, long after I have left school. It would be very interesting to see and find out how they are now.
A lot of interesting things might have happen in the good old days but when I think again, I know it was a happy time but I can't recall anything very significant. Be it on my primary school days or the secondary school time. Still I know that my school days were happy and should be a memorable one. Hmm...probably I didn't think much about it before, that I tend to forget a lot of things??
I know my first class teacher when I started school was Mrs. Ee. Nice lady for my Standard One as what we called those days as Darjah Satu Hijau :) Mmm...and now I am thinking... those days from Standard One to Standard Two, I never even know when was the exams. I don't know what I did, I only know that I love to write on the papers with questions already written, and I only need to fill in the blanks!! I prefer that than writing in my exercise books where the questions I have to write myself, and fill in the answers I have to do myself too. The actual thing was, I actually didn't know that the papers that I have to write and fill in the blanks were actually exam papers!!!! :) I only know I love to write on it :) Hmm... I suppose because of no pressure and no thoughts about exams, I did well by getting 2nd or 3rd in class all the time! Until I know what is exam, it gets a little bit of a pressure already to try sit down and actually read the book! Haha!
Anyway, back to what I was actually wanted to say, teachers those days seem to be different than how it is now. Well, as the time evolves, everything else changes... However, it still gets back to me to think....where are all my teachers now? What do they do? Some may have passed away, I wouldn't know...
There was the house not far from my school where I know my headmistress was living at. Mrs. Chong Yap Lin who replaces Miss Koh Puay Neo. Aah...surprisingly I still remembers their names!! Hmm..not sure if i spell their names correctly or not though. haha. Few years back I passed by Tengkera and passed by that house, and I wonder if Mrs. Chong still lives there??
I remember my Standard 3 teacher that I was actually afraid of. She was fierce. Mrs. Rajah.. I remembered one day she did knock my head for forgetting to bring my book. Sigh.... and I never forget about that. :) Standard 4 with Puan Zainon was ok, I remember she has beautiful handwriting! Another fierce teacher after that was Standard 5 with Puan Habibah. Wah...this one is more scary! However, I think she was really stressed up one day and she screamed at the corridor until her nice bun on her head was a mess. I don't know what went wrong that day when she screamed...and I never knew till now. Maybe "adult problem" that time. Standard 6 was weird. Sorry Miss Choy....that was what we little girls thought! :) Miss Choy was always in the 60s dressing, cotton little floral dress she was wearing everyday, with her 60s sunglasses. Well, we were already in the 70s that time, and we little girls find it weird. Soft spoken lady with 60s hairstyle too!!! Hm...now that made me recalls the movie Hairspray!!!!
Hmm...I suppose primary school days were more relaxed that I tend to remember the teachers in Methodist Girls Primary School (1) more than the ones in Secondary School. I remember friends from both primary and secondary. What does that tells you? Probably it is because of the time of growing up and how your inner self develops, that things around you that you remember is just relating to that inner self you have....
