The Milk Programme

I was reading the newspapers today, there were things about politics, about organ donors, history, malay manuscripts and something about school. The Milk Programme..

I wonder if many of you remember the time in the primary school when there was the Milk programme??

Well...I do. I remember it from the start of my Standard Two class because it was held every Tuesday and Friday in front of my class, Standard 2A. Hmm....or was it actually everyday after that?? Now I am not really sure. However, I even remember more when I became a prefect and there were the times it was my duty to be in charge of the Milk Programme.

Thinking about the programme, it was interesting and I actually liked it when I had to be in charge of the programme. Why? Because I love to drink milk and towards the end of our recess time, there will always still be a few more glasses of milk that some students didn't come to get and so I ended up drinking a glass or two to finish them! Teehee..... The teacher allowed it so I loved it!! There will be some cookies provided as well. So everytime on Milk Programme day, there will always be a glass of milk and a pack of cookies or crackers for each of the students who were listed in the Milk Programme. I really liked it when it was the squared shape Jacobs cracker with sprinkled sugar on top that was given. Well, not really Jacobs because the crackers were in the large square tin of 10kg types. Know what I mean? Like the tins at the old cookies shop or like the ones we sometimes see even at Giant hypermarket ones. Well, I'm sure you know what I am talking about ( ^__ ^ )

Whatever it is, the thing is that I was wondering if that Milk Programme is still there in MGPS (1) Tengkera or not... and I assume that rural schools will surely have a programme like that, but do we have that in the town school too?? I understand that the programme is there at government aided schools as what I read in the newspapers today. Hmm... well, for those friends who are mothers now, I wonder if you all are aware of this programme or not?

What I can say is this programme is good for the less previlege students who probably don't have enough money to buy their lunch at the school canteen. Hmm..and speaking of canteen, our school canteen those days we also call it a tuck shop! :)

As I said, thinking about the programme, I hope the programme stays in the schools where the priorities given to the poor students. It is a good thing that the Milk Programme is being practiced as it actually provides the nutritions for the children which is essential for their growing up, and secondly, it is also to fill their stomach that they won't be hungry and that will make them study better, which also benefits their purpose of coming to school in the first place.

For one thing for sure is that, we should be lucky enough to be in a country where we can get all these easily as compared to places that even water is scarce!!

Be thankful to be where you are with all the previlege you have for there are many other less fortunate people in the modern day world still.....
