I have wanted to post this since I talked about the milk programme but I was outstation a lot of time since then. Now I'm having the chance of telling something from the old school days...
I wonder if friends from school ever remember about Vitagen at school?? As I was talking about the milk programme...then later on while I was driving from work to home, my thoughts were back to about the milk programme when one of my friends was telling me that she didn't remember about the milk programme. Aaah....you don't remember because you were not the one who was included in the programme. hehehehe... I wasn't too but only because in Standard Two, the class was next to teachers' room and so the milk programme was done just at the side of the door...then later on in Standard Five when I was the prefect, one of my duties was to be in charge of the milk programme... which was one of my favourite duties.. hahaha... because of the reasons I have mentioned in that post. My share of undrinkable of milk. :)
Anyway, back to the Vitagen story.. so because of the milk programme, I began to remember about Vitagen ! Those days there will be a few times in a year which I can't remember how long was the interval was for the Vitagen day..
There will be one day when the teacher will tell, who wants to order Vitagen please write down in the forms as the Vitagen will be delivered on whatever day.... so it was an order to be placed and the Vitagen will come I think some weeks after that. It was like 2 weeks or a month..something likethat. So some students ordered 10 bottles, while some ordered one.. I usually ordered 2 bottles only.
It was like a happy luxurious drink for me at that time, something that I feel like a treat for myself. However, because I was not living with my parents during school days, I can't tell them I want some Vitagen. So, with the 30 sen a day pocket money I receive from my grandfather or grandmother, I usually keep aside some if not all of the money so that I can prepare some money for the Vitagen.
Waiting for my parents to come visit my brothers and me will be like every few weeks once when they were so far away (well, no PLUS highway those days...) will probably made my Vitagen day passed by. The only way to do it will be to save my own pocket money for it. Hmm... probably I could have asked my grandfather some money for it but I didn't... Life is hard.. hahaha
Anyway, as I said I usually ordered only 2 bottles..and that will be the money that I can saved for. Usually the favourite flavour that was ordered by most students as I recalled was grape. That includes me!! Well, when come to think about it, the flavours that was available those days were original, grape and orange only during the first few years Vitagen was introduced to us at school. So usually schoolmates mostly I saw ordered for grape. I think during the later years in primary school then I saw another flavour was introduced...the peach flavour.
Well...those were the days....and now when I looked at Vitagen with so many flavours...it made me think about those days when it was only original, grape and orange flavour. Hmm... Vitagen has really gone so far and still around today....mmm...and seeing my little nephew of 4 years old loving to drink Vitagen, always have Vitagen in the fridge for him of all the different flavours that he likes, (apparently he seems to like the original flavour the best!!) made me remembered the days when I was at school with my "luxurious" treat of Vitagen :)
Hey....and that Vitagen's unique shape bottle become "multi-purpose" at school as well... art class, it became student's glass for filling water to wet the brushes or wash away some of the water colours on the brushes, while at other times, it was made as the body of puppets and many many other things!!!
Till this day, Vitagen is also in my fridge and my favourite is the white colour original flavour and...the Vitagen bottle that is so unique in shape...I hope it stays the way it is, just as how it is for the many many years it has been.......

Hey, this is something very interesting about our schooldays which I've totally forgotten about :) I alwiz buy Vitagen for my children (one of their favourite drinks) but the memory of it from school never seem to pop in my head. Thanx so much for this post...it is very relevant. Although I never ordered or bought any on Vitagen days (not so privileged then) it is still a sweet, significant memory! :)
Yes...as what I have said, I never bought so many as I can't afford to buy more than 2 bottles then as well :) now can buy half a dozen with no problem eh? :)
